Information for:

Committees

The RAS relies on several committes to organise aspects of its activities, covering such diverse areas as publications, membership, awards and finance. It also has representatives on several external bodies.

Bye-law 58 states: "Committees for forwarding the object of the Society may be appointed by the Council, to whom their reports shall be submitted. The Council may request persons not Members of the Society to serve on these Committees; such persons shall have an equal voice with the other members of the Committees."

How to join a committee

Interested in joining an RAS Committee? Please contact the Committee Chair, or the Executive Secretary. Note that the Chairs, in nominating new members to Council, will take into account the existing balance of gender, age, occupation, subject discipline and geographical location represented on their committee.
