Meetings
[Go here for details of the forthcoming monthly meetings programme]

The RAS runs, sponsors, or otherwise supports, a wide range of meetings, including a major programme of regular monthly meetings held October to May covering all aspects of astronomy (including cosmology, astrobiology, cosmochemistry, astroparticle physics, computational astrophysics, etc.) and solid-earth geophysics (including geophysical fluid dynamics, planetary sciences, solar-terrestrial physics, etc.), planetary sciences, and solar-terrestrial physics.

In 2008/9, these monthly meetings will be held in the lecture theatres of the Geological Society  and the new RAS lecture theatre, all at Burlington House. In April, the meeting is subsumed into the annual week- long RAS National Astronomy Meeting which in 2010  will be in Glasgow. The standard format is a pair of Specialist Discussion meetings (except in May when, to accommodate the AGM, there is just one ), followed by a more general Astronomy & Geophysics ('Ordinary') meeting, open to the general public.

Webcasts and podcasts are available for many recent meetings, as are alerts of forthcoming meetings.

A map is available, showing the location of the above venues.

The External Meetings Calendar lists meetings organised by other bodies in which the RAS has some involvement. (An archive of previous listings is also available.)
An extensive listing of international meetings is maintained by the CFHT librarian.

Looking for sponsorship? The RAS provides support for a variety of meetings in the broad fields of astronmoy and geophysics. The normal route for requesting support from the RAS is through the grants programme.
