The main areas of current research are:

  • Exploration seismology, with particular emphasis on borehole exploration methods, tomographic imaging, seismic lithology and 3D/4D imaging.
  • Crustal seismology, wide-angle and reflection imaging, seismic inversion.
  • Numerical simulation of geological processes, including landscape evolution, magma generation and hydrocarbon generation.
  • Impact processes, crater formation, planetary processes.
The Group is equipped with state of the art computer systems consisting of a cluster of SUN and DEC Alpha workstations, and an extensive selection of peripheral devices.
