The first woman President of the RAS honoured.

Professor Carole JORDAN, Professor of Physics, University of Oxford has been made a Dame Commander of the British Empire in the June Birthday Honours List. Carole Jordan was President of the RAS between 1994-96, the first woman to hold this position in the Society's nearly 200 year history.
Also in the same list, Professor Andy FABIAN, Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge was made an OBE. Andy Fabian is the Managing Editor of Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Finally,
Dr Christopher John BUTLER Lately Research Astronomer, Armagh Observatory was made a MBE.
