The RAS to create a forum for specialist interest groups.
To promote better engagement between Council and the different sub-disciplines within the RAS, a 'Science Groups Committee' will be established to liaise on policy issues of mutual interest and to work together on specific issues. Groups, whether long established like the UK Solar Physics Group or MIST, or newly emerging like the UK Astroparticle Physics Group, which obtain representation on the new committee, will be able to seek financial support from the Society for specific activities, to use the Society’s rooms for their meetings, to submit proposals for the Society’s discussion meetings programme and to publish meeting reports in Astronomy and Geophysics .
