Geophysical Journal International (GJI) is delighted to announce the four winners of its 2011 Student Author Awards: Dr Verena Hermann, Dr Elinor Styles, Dr Domenico Di Giacomo and Mr Josip Stipcevic.

The Student Author Awards are designed to recognise and acknowledge the 'best papers' submitted to GJI from young scientists in the field. Manuscripts are short listed by the high profile Editorial Board and highlighted on the Geophysical Journal International homepage. To qualify, authors must be a student and the lead author on the paper when it is submitted to GJI.

The 2011 winners will receive a cash prize and a certificate, and acknowledgement will be made at the American Geophysical Union meeting in December 2011 and the EGU General Assembly meeting in 2012.
