The RAS Council invites comments (from its Fellows only) on its draft response to the RCUK Consultation on the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Peer Review
The RCUK proposals identify ways of reducing the costs involved in making applications to the Research Councils and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the peer review process. While the RAS applauds these aims, it has serious reservations about some of the proposals. A draft response has been compiled by the Society’s Higher Education Committee and, following discussion at Council and in the light of comments from the membership, this will be finalised and submitted by the deadline (19 January 2007).
The draft response can be read here. RCUK - peer review.pdf
