Annual RAS Picnic
Annual RAS Picnic. Sunday 20th July 2014 - 12:30pm
Celebrating its Silver Jubilee - its 25th year !
Believe it or not, this year we will be celebrating the 25th RAS Annual Picnic. During that time, we have eaten many sandwiches and cakes, been rained on a couple of times and relocated because of the Olympics to see a Vicar attempt walking on custard. We have had more Jeroboams of Champagne than present in the standard off-licence, as well as a Methuselah, due to the brilliant assistance of Guy Morgan. We have had picnickers taken off their feet by kites, rockets disappear out of sight (and site) and boomerangs which didn't quite come back without a chase. We have had attendances from all over the UK, as well as people flying in from Germany, America, and had Fellows from Australia organise their European Tour to stop off en route. Yes, the RAS Annual Picnic has it all. Most of all, it has Fellows, their families and guests attend, complete with other Astronomical Groups to make it an amazing day. To all I send my heartfelt thanks.
If you can bring something fizzy, it would be great to have a great Blast of Corks to set the day alight!
The latest weather update is available via the Met Office, and the weather is looking excellent.
The place to be on Sunday, 20th July 2014!
