Nominations invited for President and council members of the RAS

The RAS Council is the governing body of the Society, consisting of 21 Fellows who are appointed by elections held each year. Council meets six times a year to make decisions on the activities of the Society.

Click to enlarge.There are several vacancies now arising on the RAS Council, including the role of President, for terms begining in May 2015. Please consider standing or nominating a colleague for one of these posts:

  • President Elect*
  • Vice President × 2 (one A, one G)
  • Councillor × 5 (one A, one G, and three A or G)

* One year as President Elect, followed by two years as President.

'A' signifies all areas of astronomy and astrophysics; whilst 'G' covers geophysics, solar-terrestrial physics and planetary sciences.
