Job vacancy: Assistant Editor (MNRAS)
The RAS is currently inviting applications from suitably-qualified individuals for the position of Assistant Editor (MNRAS). The deadline for applications is 20 March 2015.
We are looking for a full-time Assistant Editor to process research papers submitted for publication to our leading research journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society (MNRAS). This is an administrative position which involves using a web-based submission and tracking system and handling the resulting correspondence with authors, scientific editors, referees and the publisher. Good English and communication skills are essential, while a scientific background and interest in astronomy is highly desirable. Degree level education is preferred. Experience of working on academic journals would be helpful but is not essential.
Applicants should refer to the full Assistant Editor job description. The starting salary is £28,000. Annual leave entitlement is 20 days, rising to 25 days after 5 years service (exclusive of standard UK bank holidays and RAS Privilege days). Typical working hours are 09:30 to 17:30.
