RAS announces reduced membership fees for members of the Geological Society of London (GSL) - 25% off your RAS and GSL fees if you are a Fellow of both Societies
At the AGM on 8th May 2015 the Society approved a two year trial for reduced membership rates for Fellows who are also a member of the Geological Society of London (GSL). Fellows will be able to apply for Fellowship of the GSL at a 25% discount, and vice versa; a two year trial will start in 2016 and will be reviewed in 2018.
A summary is provided below, details will be provided to RAS Fellows in the annual renewals paperwork that will be issued in November. The Geological Society's annual renewal process begins on 18 September 2015 (for 2016 Renewals) and details can be found at www.geolsoc.org.uk/RAS.
The Royal Astronomical Society and the Geological Society of London have agreed that Fellows who are members of both societies will receive a 25% discount off the RAS rate 3 and GSL 34 -59 age band membership fees. This new arrangement will allow Fellows who are interested in astronomy and geodesy to enjoy the benefits of membership with another highly regarded learned society also located at Burlington House.
• RAS members can join the Geological Society at a discounted fee of £148.50 (which is a 25% reduction off the 34-59 age band fee of £198 for 2016)
• GSL Fellows can join the RAS at a discounted fee of £82.50 (which is a 25% reduction off the Rate 3 membership fee of £110 for 2016)
