The RAS is pleased to announce that Prof. Jeannot Trampert is the new Editor in Chief of Geophysics Journal International (GJI).

Prof. Trampert, who succeeds Prof. Cindy Ebinger, is based in the Department of Earth Sciences at Utrecht University. His main interest is the study of the Earth's deep interior. More specifically, he investigates the reliability of seismic tomography and its interpretation in terms of temperature and composition, seismic anisotropy and density in the mantle and core. He has interests in all aspects of geophysical inverse theory and recently started to work on problems relevant to exploration geophysics.

GJI, published by the RAS and the German Geophysical Society (DGG), is the primary solid-earth geophysics journal based in Europe. It publishes the results of research on the earth's internal structure, physical properties, evolution and processes covering all aspects of theoretical, computational and observational geophysics.
