Media Directory of Expertise on Planetary Science in the UK
Need to speak to an expert on something to do with the solar system - planets, moons, comets for instance - or even extrasolar planets? Now there is a one-stop web site, designed with the media in mind, carrying details of 22 departments in British Universities involved in planetary science and related research.
(and remember to put in a bookmark!)
There you will find pages for each of the research groups, describing the work they do, together with the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of media contacts. Browse through the list to discover the scope of planetary science in the UK and the involvement of British researchers in scientific space missions. Alternatively, use the simple search facility to help find the groups that can best supply the expertise you need.
This new media resource is an initiative of the UK Planetary Forum, an informal network of researchers and other individuals supporting planetary science in the UK. The setting up of the web site was made possible through the award of a grant by the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) under its Public Understanding of Science programme.
On behalf of the UK Planetary Forum, the web site was conceived, designed and written by Drs Nick Flowers and Andrew Coates of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London, Dr Steve Miller of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London, and Dr Jacqueline Mitton, the Press Officer of the Royal Astronomical Society, with the help and co-operation of the listed research groups.
