STFC budget crisis

The RAS President comments on STFC's statement.
Commenting on the press release following the  STFC Council meeting on 28-29 January 2008 , the RAS's President, Professor Michael Rowan-Robinson, said..

'I  welcome the fact that STFC has generated a briefing  for the community following the recent Council Meeting.
I also welcome the opportunity for community consultation following the pending announcement of the outcome of the Programmatic Review at the beginning of March.
Lack of information and consultation has been one of the major complaints of the community.
That said, the RAS remains unhappy with the outcome of the CSR for astronomy in the UK and is unhappy with the way that STFC has handled the funding crisis'.
